Towards this, the book examines few common beliefs and show that these notions could be viewed from a different angle (i.e. the hidden side). It further tries to demonstrate that it can be useful to see these beliefs thus. The beliefs discussed in this book are some of the essential strands that secure our society, like:(1) Aren’t we irrational?(2) Why do we live as a society?(3) Why do we have religions?(4) What in reality, leads to a new religion?(5) Why ‘privatize or perish’ need not be true?(6) Why do we do what we do?(7) Why unity is not strength?(8) Why the all out war against chemical fertilizers as well as the love affair with anything ‘organic’ are ill-conceived notions?(9) What is the real reason behind the all out war against child labor?(10) Why do we like what we like? or(11) What is language for?The book starts by asserting that humans are irrational which is opposite to the common “notion that Homo Sapiens are an entity, consistent with, based on or using reason.” This assertion of irrationality in fact flows throughout the book. It then challenges the belief that humans need to or that it is advantageous to live as a society. It then explains why religions and new religions exist, as well as fundamental human needs that motivate us to do what we do. It then explores the belief that unity may not be a strength. The book continues to challenge the common beliefs such as the use of chemical fertilizers and the non-use of child labor and so on. This is designed as a helpful guide to those who like to challenge conventional thinking! The Hidden Side by _J.T.
